What is thick face?

Thick face is a concept popularized by author Chin-Ning Chu in her book "Thick Face, Black Heart." It refers to a mindset of mental toughness, courage, and resilience, particularly when it comes to navigating difficult situations, overcoming setbacks, and dealing with criticism and rejection. According to Chu, those with a thick face are able to maintain their self-esteem and sense of worth regardless of external circumstances, and are not easily swayed by other people's opinions or emotions. They are also able to remain detached and strategic in their decision-making, even in high-stress situations. This concept has been widely embraced in business and leadership circles as a trait of successful individuals.
